Following a four-year gestation period, a near final draft of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) is available. The new rules will not apply until 2018 at the earliest depending on when the regulation is finally adopted but there is a lot to do in advance as organisations will need to demonstrate compliance. Steps should be taken now in readiness

Lewis Silkin’s professional services group invites you to a round table discussion to discuss the implications for professional services firms. We will be joined by Richard Syers, Strategic Liaison from the Independent Commissioner’s Office who will be discussing the ICO’s approach to implementation and enforcement of the regulation.

The ICO is in the process of considering what guidance would assist businesses and they are keen to receive views from businesses on the difficulties they will experience in complying with the new regime. The ICO aims to tailor their guidance to business in light of this feedback. Our event will enable you to feedback your thoughts and observations.

We will also be discussing the latest developments in relation to the EU-US Privacy Shield, the proposed new framework for the exchange of transatlantic data following the invalidation of the previous Safe Habor scheme.

Registration for this discussion is from 12pm with the discussion commencing at 12:30pm and concluding at 2pm. To enable us to focus the discussion we welcome any questions, thoughts and observations on the GDPR in advance of our discussion which can be sent to Rob.Johnson@lewissilkin.com.
