I specialise in global acquisitions, TUPE and the contingent workforce.

My work is both advisory and contentious, covering contracts and policies, employee relations matters, restructures and redundancies, family-friendly rights and Employment Tribunal proceedings. I have particular experience of advising on employment law aspects of complex global acquisitions and outsourcings. I also regularly co-ordinate employment law advice across multiple jurisdictions for international projects.

I am fortunate to work with clients across a variety of sectors, such as media & entertainment, technology, pharmaceutical and retail.

Employment

I am frequently involved in TUPE and I co-Chair Lewis Silkin’s specialist TUPE group. My work in this area typically includes transactional assistance, such as due diligence and drafting/negotiating employment protections in purchase agreements; and advisory support relating to the information and consultation process (including collective consultation), harmonisation of terms and conditions and dismissals.

In addition, I co-Chair Lewis Silkin’s specialist contingent workforce group and have extensive experience advising on more unusual working arrangements, such as self-employed contractors (including IR35 matters), agency workers, secondees, interns, zero hours workers and apprentices.

Technology

Much of my practice consists of advising both established and start-up technology companies on all aspects of employment law. Most recently this has included support on a global acquisition spanning 12 jurisdictions, involving complex TUPE and transitional services arrangements; advice on amendments to terms and conditions as a prerequisite to external funding; and drafting bonus provisions to ensure adequate protection for the business.

Media & Entertainment

I am a key member of Lewis Silkin’s Media & Entertainment Group and I assist numerous clients in this sector with their national and international employment law requirements. Recent examples include advising a music body on the employment issues relating to a joint venture; advising a broadcast media company on a major restructure, including redundancy and TUPE implications; and defending a complex tribunal claim for sex discrimination and equal pay.
