My work involves a broad range of UK immigration issues. I assist employers and individuals on all aspects of Points Based System applications, such as skilled workers who require sponsorship or temporary workers coming over for training.

I joined Lewis Silkin in 2013 as a trainee solicitor and qualified as an Associate in September 2015 into the business immigration team.

I hold a Bachelor of Laws awarded by Newcastle University in 2010 and completed the Legal Practice Course in 2011, awarded by the University of Law (previously College of Law).

I qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in September 2015 after completing my Training Contract with Lewis Silkin.

I am a member of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association and have drafted numerous articles for various industry-specific journals.

Immigration and global mobility

My work involves a broad range of UK immigration issues. I assist employers and individuals on all aspects of Points-Based System applications, such as skilled workers who require sponsorship or temporary workers coming over for training.

I also provide advice to companies on all issues relating to sponsor licences, including initial applications to be added to the Register of Sponsors, meeting and maintaining compliance obligations, and dealing suspension or revocation action. Recently, I successfully argued to reverse sponsor licence suspensions for a company operating in the food and beverage industry and another operating in media and broadcasting.

Another part of my work involves advising individuals on other parts of the Immigration Rules, including family members of persons settled in the UK, investors and entrepreneurs, and also on nationality cases.

Financial services

I advise multinational banks, financial institutions, and automotive companies in relation to transferring their workforce, and maintaining compliance with current rules and regulations.

I have successfully argued for the UK government to overturn its decision to remove my clients from the Register of Sponsors, and have also advised on various complex immigration matters under the Points Based System.

Immigration

The immigration work I advise on is varied and involves most issues arising under the Immigration Rules.  I also advise European citizens and their family members on their rights arising under European law. Specifically, the areas I advise on include:

  • setting up companies on the Register of Sponsors so that they can employ non-EEA nationals
  • advising on the Points Based System, including the Resident Labour Market Test, certificates of sponsorship, and other compliance obligations
  • preparing applications for Permanent Residence and Indefinite Leave to Remain for both EEA and non-EEA nationals
  • providing tailored training sessions to companies - often this will focus on a particular area of law such as sponsor compliance, right to work checks, or the Sponsor Management System
