Much of my time is spent working with numbers: from using data to disprove discrimination, to debunking statistical claims in litigation and analysing pay data to look for areas of risk.
In addition, I am an expert in age discrimination and run Lewis Silkin’s specialist age discrimination site: agediscrimination.info. I also have a great interest and expertise in religion and belief issues in the workplace.
I have been quoted by the media many times speaking about the practical impact of new cases and what they mean for employers.
Equal pay/Gender Pay Gap Reporting
I have deep knowledge and experience of all aspects of gender pay issues, including obligations under the new gender pay gap reporting regulations. I also conduct analyses of client pay data beyond that required by the gender pay gap reporting regulations in order to test scenarios and help clients really understand what measures they need to take to have a substantial and positive impact on their reportable statistics. More widely, I have also carried out equal pay reviews to identify areas of risk for clients, and provided solutions to minimise this risk by making changes to pay systems.
I have also acted in large multi-party equal pay cases, both in the High Court and Employment Tribunal.
I am experienced at dealing with all aspects of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs): from strategic considerations upon receiving the initial request and identifying how the scope of the request can legitimately be reduced, to the practicalities of conducting large scale document review exercises to identify those containing personal data.
I have experience at dealing with data breaches such as those as a result of whaling and phishing incidents, including understanding how fraudsters might be able to make use of the data lost, procuring the services of credit control providers to give reassurance to those affected, and notifying the relevant authorities.
