My expertise over the years spans the full range of IT disciplines, from complex, cutting-edge transactional advice to the resolution of business-critical disputes. I was lucky enough to have been in the thick of the technology explosion right from the outset, starting off in-house by being Manager of Legal Affairs at Hewlett Packard (from 1978 to 1983) and then later, in private practice, acting for many of the largest and most successful IT companies in the world. Some of the work I carried out for these companies was at the heart of the development e-commerce and the Internet, so I've been incredibly fortunate in that respect.

Whilst Marcus specialises in cutting-edge and the more technical areas of technology law, like Cloud Computing, Free and Open Source Software and Font licensing, he is equally at home with core contractual and commercial matters like writing standard terms and conditions for hardware, software and web companies and working with them to develop optimum selling strategies for their technology products.

That could be dealing with IP matters, like software or business method patents or seeing off patent / trade mark trolls for a technology company, or advising on Open Innovation, Co-Creation or Crowdsourcing for a non-technology company.
