Lewis Silkin LLP announces the appointment of planning specialist Judith Damerell as a partner to head up the planning team in its Real Estate & Development (RED) group.
Judith joins the firm from Eversheds, where she was a partner and Head of Planning for the London and Cambridge offices.
Judith’s appointment brings additional strength to the RED team, and further bolsters their expertise in property law and planning. Judith adds dedicated planning acumen to the firm’s already comprehensive offering to clients in the Real Estate & Development sector. She brings an impressive track record in advising on significant UK development projects, including the redevelopment of GCHQ, and has advised on the planned development of six new mixed-use, 20,000-home communities in Cornwall, with all associated transport links.
As a planning lawyer in both Central Government and private practice, Judith has worked on high-profile London projects such as London 2012, the Elephant and Castle Early Housing Sites and University College London Hospital. She sits on both the CBI's Major Infrastructure Projects Working Group and its Localism Group, and is Strategic Partnerships Chair for the London Chapter of WTS International, a 5,000 member organisation dedicated to the advancement of women in the transportation industry.
Commenting on the appointment, Leonard Goodrich, Head of Real Estate & Development at Lewis Silkin LLP, said:
"We are delighted to welcome Judith to the team. Planning is a critical part of our Real Estate and Development practice, and her experience in regeneration and development projects and unparalleled insight into both the public and private sectors is a powerful combination. Her appointment will enable us to strengthen our existing team at this important stage of the property cycle, further enabling us to provide market-leading advice and service."
"I am very much looking forward to joining Lewis Silkin’s Real Estate and Development team, which has an excellent reputation in the market and an enviable client list. The practice offers great breadth of expertise, and I am delighted to be able to contribute to its expansion.
