Day to day, my work involves the acquisition, disposal and development of property by our clients. New schemes often require the negotiation of satisfactory planning obligations, granting nominations rights and dealing with matters raised as a result of title enquiries.
I helped ensure that a client was able to team up with social services on a new model for supported housing. This meant that people with severe physical and learning disabilities were able to move out of a hospital ward and into their own home environment.
I advised on a tricky disposal on the open market (at auction) involving a property which had been bought by way of a capital grant from the local health authority. The end result was pleasing insofar as our client wanted to ensure an ongoing relationship with the local PCT.
I assisted a colleague in setting up and transferring a client’s existing stock of sheltered accommodation to a new charitable subsidiary. I also assisted on the funding aspects of the transaction, particularly with regard to the fulfilment of conditions precedent.
Although the team acts for a wide variety of organisations, most of the clients with whom I work are registered social landlords and usually charities.
B.A. (Hons) Theology, CPE and LPC - Exeter University. During the five years I spent in Exeter, I sang as a counter-tenor choral scholar in Exeter Cathedral Choir.
I like to keep my free time occupied with varying degrees of sporting activities, food, wine and travel. I also enjoy listening to music (especially now I don’t have to sing every day!) and walking along the South Downs in Sussex near where I live. When I am not being self-indulgent I like to help organise fundraising events for charity, such as undertaking the 15 peaks challenge in North Wales later this year.
