I negotiate documents for mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and the constitutional arrangements of partnerships and limited liability partnerships. The real challenge is finding practical solutions to meet clients’ objectives.
I have been noted as a leading practitioner in the area of partnerships and LLPs in both Chambers and the Legal 500. I was a speaker at a recent seminar at the annual “Limited Liability Partnerships Conference” targeted at the legal and professional services sectors. I am co-author of the book "Employment, Partnership and Discrimination Law for Professional Partnerships", published by Legalease.
Advising The Mission Marketing Group plc on its recent acquisition of RLA Group and refinancing with The Royal Bank of Scotland and HSBC. Advising numerous LLP conversions (both from companies and partnerships) and start-ups. Advising The Big Lottery Fund (its capacity role as successor to the Millenium Commission) in relation to capital projects.
The clients for whom I act are in a range of sectors including advertising and marketing services, professional services and the public sector.
LLB (Exeter) – more years ago than I now care to remember! I am the firm’s Finance Partner and a member of the Management Board, which is responsible for the management of the firm. I am also joint head of the firm’s partnerships and limited liability partnerships group.
Life is challenging outside Lewis Silkin too, as my wife will testify – bringing up two energetic boys sometimes make the law seem like a piece of cake! Despite my name, I am an avid England rugby fan and would happily spend more time in the Alps on skis.
