I draw up and negotiate complex contracts for the acquisition and disposal of land for the development of Affordable Housing; often as part of a regeneration project. I negotiate the ancillary documents such as nomination agreements, section 106 agreements and management agreements, which form part of any housing project.
On the social care side I am often advising on difficult contractual, financial and registration issues arising from residential care, domiciliary care and supported housing. In the latter case with a particular emphasis on the negotiation of contracts for supporting people grant.
I have been noted as a leading social housing practitioner in Chambers. I regularly contribute articles for Inside Housing. I contributed to the latest updating by Butterworths of its volume of Forms and Precedents on Social Housing widely used by legal practitioners and I am in the process of working with Butterworths rewriting the volume. I regularly speak at the National Housing Federation’s conference on Housing with Care and Support and at client workshops and seminars.
· I acted for Notting Hill Housing Trust on the acquisition of a portfolio of residential homes for people with learning disabilities and additional sites to facilitate the reprovision of supported housing for people with learning disabilities in the London Borough of Barnet. My knowledge of Supporting People and experience in dealing with complex projects of this nature, involving social care issues as well as the transfer of
· I produced a model form of development agreement for the Housing Corporation which the Corporation wanted for development officers to use without having to obtain extensive legal advice every time. The Corporation was pleased with the clarity of the agreement and the way it addressed potential.
· I advised an RSL on the acquisition of land for affordable housing as part of a larger project for the redevelopment of a school and off site residential housing. The timing of the development of the affordable housing was crucial to the funding for the redevelopment of the school which meant that I had to negotiate a suite of legal agreements within a very tight timeframe – and I achieved this through good organisation and attention to detail.
· I advised a supporting housing provider on disputes with a local authority over the administration of a support services review and alleged termination of the contract.

As part of my service I sit on the management committee of an organisation that provides a meeting place for parents and children under a contact order in divorce proceedings.
