Much of my work involves thinking up and implementing the best and most profitable way for a company to sell its products or services, from IP Cores, through Open Source to Cloud Computing. Can deal with Competition law issues particularly in relation to IT matters.
I have been ranked almost continuously in the highest tier for IT and/or IP in either both or both of the Chambers Guide to the Legal profession or The Legal 500, since those directories were first published: "He blends academic prowess with an energetic and commercial approach to law, which is popular with clients" (Legal 500).
I produce regular articles on what I hope are useful topics for my clients ("Marcus's Legal Snippets"). These are also available as podcasts on iTunes. I am currently producing a series of workshops on Open Source Software matters.
Developing the contractual strategy for a company moving from ASP/SaaS to Cloud Computing and writing all necessary terms and other documents.
Advising on IP matters in the context of a possible business sale.
Advising a technology company on US strategy.
A mixture of large well-known and smaller but innovative technology and other companies. I act mainly on the supplier side.

I have been married for over 31 years and have two grown up sons who take it in turns to drag me up climbing walls during the week and rock faces at weekends. I also enjoy target rifle shooting and was lucky enough to win the 900m Gold Medal at the World Individual Long Range Championships in Canada in 2007. I was also a member of the successful Great Britain Rifle team to South Africa in 2008. I sail from time to time - markedly less since I sailed across the Atlantic a few years ago!
