Owen Williams
I provide advice in relation to in all aspects of construction law and EU Procurement, which results in a very varied workload for a wide range of clients.

Areas of Expertise

Some specifics

As I advise on dispute avoidance and resolution, provide advice on contractual issues and draft and negotiate contracts, no two days are the same. A typical day may involve providing advice to a client on the best tack to take to avoid a dispute arising; assisting a client to bring or defend a claim in an adjudication; drafting and negotiating development agreements, building contracts, consultants' appointments and collateral warranties or advising on EU procurement procedures or claims for breaches of those procedures.

I have written articles for a variety of construction and regeneration related journals and lectured both at external events and our in-house seminars for clients on both construction and EU procurement topics.

Recent examples of work

  • • Advising a client in relation to its liability following the almost complete collapse of an adjacent property during excavation works on the client’s site and assisting to protect the client’s position while resolving the situation and avoiding litigation.
    • Assisting on a multi-million pound claim in the Technology and Construction Court in relation to the termination of the contractor’s employment, an extension of time and loss and expense claim, and revaluation of the final account.
    • Advising a client in relation to a proposed contract it was looking to enter into to carry out works as part of the cooling the tube (London Underground) trials.
    • Acting for various clients in adjudications relating to extensions of time, payment, termination and final account revaluations.
    • Advising on the construction aspects of a multi-million pound development agreement for the construction of social housing.
  • • Drafting and negotiating the building contract for the fit-out of a client’s new office space.
