I mainly act for housing clients (RSLs, Co-ops etc) in a wide range of contentious and non-contentious work from (e.g. rent arrears possession claims, gas servicing injunctions, squatters' actions) to the more complex cases (e.g. nuisance and anti-social behaviour, breach of tenancy, non-occupation and sub-letting), whilst also advising clients on their policies and procedures. I also act for some commercial clients and private individuals in respect of harassment actions and possession actions.

I conducted proceedings to restrain endemic nuisance and anti-social behaviour on an estate, including threatening behaviour, heroin/crack abuse and handling stolen goods. We obtained without notice injunctions, together with powers of arrest and interim ASBOs and, following a seven day trial, possession of the premises and final injunctions/ASBOs. Most of the evidence relied upon was hearsay and CCTV footage, as the defendants’ neighbours were extremely fearful of reprisals and would not give evidence. I recently acted for a large RSL in its claim for possession of property occupied by a drug user, who used the property for parties and regularly cause a nuisance and annoyance to his neighbours. The matter received press attention following the death pf a party goer outside the property. The RSL had obtained an order for possession on the basis of rent arrears, which was suspended on terms.  The Defendant had breached the terms of the order and was a tolerated trespasser. Relying on Sheffield City Council -v- Hopkins we adduced evidence of the nuisance to defeat the Defendant's application to suspend the Warrant.  I am currently dealing with a substantial protestor/Harassment Act action for a well-known retailer.
