I advise clients on the full range of intellectual property issues, including trade marks and brand protection (with a particular emphasis on ambush marketing), passing off, copyright, designs, database rights, image rights and domain names. Where disputes arise, I act for those clients in domestic and international litigation, arbitration and ADR.
I regularly write articles for specialist and general publications, including European Intellectual Property Review, International Sports Law Review, Managing Intellectual Property, Copyright World, Trade Mark World, Entertainment Law Review, World Sports Law Review, Solicitors Journal, Legal Week and the Lawyer. I have also written articles or comments for national press such as The Times, The Independent and the Financial Times. I speak at seminars particularly those aimed at the advertising industries, most recently at the Lexis Nexis Butterworths “Advertising Law” conference and the Lewis Silkin “Ambush Marketing and the Offside Trap” seminar.
Acting for a multi-national consumer brand owner in trade mark proceedings against a competitor regarding the sale of a kitchen appliance;
Advising a multi-national car manufacturer regarding the prevention of parallel imports entering into the EU;
Advising a computer games publisher in defending a claim of infringement of image rights in Belgium;
Advising on advertising and brand consultancy in relation to a dispute with a TV channel regarding the adoption by the TV channel of the consultancy's name;
Acting for a number of different advertising agencies in relation to claims of copyright infringement in respect of musical works and/or images used in television advertisements, both in the UK and France.
