On most days, colleagues come to me for advice on legal issues or guidance on carrying out their own research. A lot of my time is devoted to reading new cases and legislation and analysing the implications.
Apart from managing Lewis Silkin's own employment law publications, I am editor of Sweet & Maxwell's Transfer of Undertakings Bulletin and an advisory editor to Employment Law Journal. I also regularly contribute articles to the HR and legal press.
· Our bi-monthly employment law e-news service is a convenient and entertaining way to keep informed about significant legal developments.
· Each year, we put together a comprehensive internal training programme for our employment lawyers, comprising lunchtime talks, practical workshops and regular discussions about new cases.
· Our 'indepth' guides to Age Discrimination and TUPE, both loaded with practical examples, have proved hugely popular with clients.
I don't often act for clients directly, but my main purpose is to support and enhance the quality of the service offered by my colleagues. In addition, I co-ordinate our In House Employment Lawyers Club, a high-level discussion forum for in-house counsel who specialise in law affecting the workplace.
BA in law from Clare College, Cambridge and an LLM from the London School of Economics (specialising in industrial relations and employment law). I was called to the Bar in 1984 and am a member of the Middle Temple.
My partner Emelia and I spend as much time as we can outside work having fun with our wonderful sons Noah, Jake and Riley, attempting to steer them through the stormy seas of adolescence.
