Practice Development Lawyer

Employment and Incentives

My role is to know employment law, track its changes and tell our colleagues and clients what they need to know – all in three days a week.

Some specifics

As a Practice Development Lawyer, my work involves marshalling, categorising, analysing and storing relevant information which comes to us via email, press, word of mouth and internet resources. Urgent news goes out by email or an e-newsflash, other important developments might appear in our monthly ‘employment e-news’ report, our Newsnotes or in a press piece.

Media relations and public speaking

I write regularly for employment law and HR press and websites.

Recent examples of work

- Co-ordinating the production of a book, Employment, Partnership and Discrimination Law for Professional Partnerships, published by Legalease Publishing. - Liaising with our ius laboris colleagues to gather information on TUPE laws across Europe for publication.

Clients

These days my clients are the employment lawyers here, who rely on us to keep them at the cutting edge.

Qualifications and other experience

MA in law from Jesus College, Cambridge. College of Law, Newcastle. Former political researcher. Former Lewis Silkin trainee, solicitor and partner.

I'm human too...

but rarely feel it due to the presence in my life of two small, wild boys.
