We are delighted to announce that Kathryn Weaver and Karen Baxter have been selected by International Employment Lawyer’s Women Leaders thought-leadership survey.

Kathryn Weaver (Lewis Silkin Hong Kong) has been selected for her expertise in litigation and has said, “The main challenge facing employers in the area of employment litigation in Hong Kong has been court and tribunal closures during the covid-19 pandemic, of which Hong Kong has experienced five waves. During these waves, courts and tribunals either closed completely or had restricted service. This has affected businesses operationally and financially, especially where an employer has wanted to bring proceedings against an employee in relation to breach of contract or fraudulent misrepresentation, etc, and has been unable to commence or conclude the case.”

Karen Baxter (Lewis Silkin UK) has been selected for her expertise in investigations and regulatory and has said, “There has never been a higher level of demand for investigations work; the #MeToo and Black Lives Matter movements led to a sea change in how many complaints companies received and their responses to those complaints. The advent of social media has also made it substantially easier for disgruntled current and former staff members to raise complaints anonymously and publicly. Employers need to know how to respond promptly and proportionately when these issues arise.”
