Privacy and data protection is a hot topic at the moment, with the ongoing tension between increasing demands for surveillance and the right to a private life. This session will look generally at data protection and employment, with a focus on topical developments and practical tips for staying within the law.

We will consider the recent European Court ruling that “safe harbour” is no longer valid for transferring data overseas, and what employers can do instead.

We will also look at recent cases and the current approach of the Information Commissioner towards data privacy in the workplace.

This programme is aimed mainly at HR managers and those with equivalent experience of dealing with workplace employment issues – but we’d be delighted to welcome you whatever your background or grounding in employment law
