The next meeting of our In-house Employment Lawyers Club will address some modern-day discrimination issues, with a particular focus on statistics and issues arising from the pandemic and Black Lives Matter protests.

This event is restricted to in-house lawyers who either specialise in or undertake a significant proportion of employment work.

We’ll cover:

  • Positive action -  are quotas or targets the answer to improving diversity and when are they lawful?
  • Do statistics win discrimination claims? – how is disparate impact established, is statistical disadvantage enough and does the current pandemic change the traditional view of flexible working claims?
  • Algorithmic discrimination – after the A-level experience, how can employers mitigate the risks of algorithmic discrimination?
  • Discrimination in restructuring – what allegations are we seeing raised in the context of redundancy selection decisions and severance schemes and how are employers responding?
