About

I am an Associate on the employment law team at Lewis Silkin. I have expertise in employment law and immigration law. I act for and advise clients in both the public and private sectors on a wide range of issues affecting the employment relationship, from pre-employment matters through to termination of the employment relationship. I also advise clients on corporate immigration matters. I have significant experience in litigation and dispute resolution matters and have advised clients in relation to the Workplace Relations Commission, Labour Court, and civil court processes.

I hold a Masters of Laws in intellectual property and information law from King's College London and a LLB from Trinity College Dublin. I am a qualified solicitor in Ireland and in England and Wales.

Experience

Employment litigation

  • Representing employers before the Workplace Relations Commission, Labour Court, and civil courts
  • Defending injunctions to restrain dismissals in the High Court
  • Attending mediation and settlement meetings on behalf of clients with the aim of resolving disputes
  • Drafting employment contracts and policies to best position clients to avoid and, if necessary, defend litigation and negotiating mutual separations

Advisory work

  • Advising on day to day employment matters such as performance management, absence management, working time queries, and disciplinary processes
  • Advising on TUPE and harmonisation of employment contract projects
  • Supporting employers through restructuring and reduction in force projects
  • Advising employers and senior employees on the enforceability of restrictive covenants

Contracts and policies

  • Drafting and reviewing employment policies and employment contracts for employers across a range of industries
  • Drafting and advising on contractor agreements and the risks associated with incorrectly engaging contractors
  • Advising a range of clients on the implementation of employee handbooks

Employment M&A

  • Advising on the employment law aspects of mergers and acquisitions such as due diligence, employee exits, employment provisions in commercial agreements and post-completion harmonising of terms and conditions of employment
