Employers' LinkedIn rights: another piece of the puzzle
10 September 2013
In an article for PLC Magazine, Ellen Temperton discusses a High Court ruling deciding that a former employer can exert some control over an employee’s LinkedIn account after termination in order to protect its business (Whitmar Publications Ltd v Gamage EWHC 1881 (Ch)). This is despite the fact that the LinkedIn user agreement is often in the name of the employee.
Ellen goes on to discuss the practical considerations and ultimately suggests that employers should provide guidance and implement policies for LinkedIn users. You can read Ellen's article, which first appeared in the September 2013 issue of PLC Magazine, here.
