A team from City law firm Lewis Silkin has successfully completed the 24 Peaks Challenge in order to raise much-needed funds for the firm’s chosen charity, the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity. LONDON – A team from City law firm Lewis Silkin has successfully completed the 24 Peaks Challenge in order to raise much-needed funds for the firm’s chosen charity, the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity. The charity is particularly special to Lewis Silkin following the loss of James Levy last year, a sadly missed colleague and friend who was cared for at the Royal Brompton Hospital.

Over the weekend of the 19th and 20th September, the 30 strong team took on the 24 highest peaks of the Lake District. This two-day test of endurance saw the team cover a distance of 63.4km/39.4miles, and climb an ascent of 4,211 metres, climbing 9 peaks on the first day and 15 on the second

The team comprised 30 individuals drawn from across the firm’s departments. Those that took part were: Richard Berry, Daniel Bugler, Michelle Cooper, Shalina Crossley, Rebecca Craker, Olivia Eardley, Simon Entwistle, Jo Evans, Daria Evdokimova, Oliver Fairhurst, Susie Fyvie, Leonard Goodrich, Alan Hunt, Eliza Halling, Nicholas Hadaway, Tom Heys, Paul Johnson, Susie Jarrold, Ian Jeffery, Sarah Lampard, Emma Langhorn, David Lawrence, Ned Lewis, Henry McKay, Sarah McWhinney, Natalie Parkinson, Sam Pennington, Louise Sargeant, Tarun Tawakley, and Poppy Wiseman.

The fundraising was bolstered by a number of activities across all four of the firm’s offices in the weeks leading up to the challenge itself including a silent auction, dress down days, photo competitions and food sales.

Ian Jeffery, Lewis Silkin’s Managing Partner, and himself a participant in the challenge commented:

“Having taken part I can say first-hand what a challenge this was to complete. Everyone at Lewis Silkin is incredibly proud of our hikers and I’m pleased to have been part of the team effort. We are delighted to have raised over £25,000 and that we will be able to donate the money to such a worthwhile cause that means so much to so many at Lewis Silkin.”

There is still time to donate, so if you would like to show your support for the participants and help us exceed our £25,000 target further please use the Just Giving page for the event: http://www.justgiving.com/Lewis-Silkin1

About the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity

The Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity makes a vital contribution to the work carried out at the hospitals, supporting projects that are ineligible for funding from the NHS, awarding grants for medical research, specialist equipment and other amenities to improve patient care. Harefield celebrates it centenary in 2015 and an exciting programme of new building works will be taking place throughout centenary year to expand and improve services for patents. The Royal Brompton’s current challenge is to raise £4.5 million to build a new ‘Hybrid Theatre’ which will combine complex imaging equipment in an environment where different surgical procedures which would normally take weeks or even months can take place at the same time on the same day.
