Mercer’s 2024 People Risk report examines the key workforce threats facing employers according to five pillars of risk: (1) technological change and disruption; (2) talent, leadership and workforce practices; (3) health, well-being and safety; (4) governance, compliance and financial; and (5) environment, sustainability and protection.

The research highlights that streamlining organisational complexity and creating clear definitions of risk can support areas such as health, well-being and safety, as well as address governance issues. From a people perspective, it suggests that investing in appropriate skilled resources should be a business priority. However, this needs to be a redesign of work - not just brining in new skills - in order build a sustainable and resilient people model.
