This Accenture report reveals how frontier AI capabilities, particularly the emergence of agentic AI, present a step-change opportunity to unlock frontline productivity and growth in the UK.
The share of UK working hours that AI could enable has risen from 47% to 82%, yet the findings reveal a system under tension: rapid individual adoption, uneven organisational progress and an economic prize that remains largely uncaptured. It emphasises that the barriers to progress are no longer primarily technological; they are organisational and human, lying in how work is structured, how people are equipped and how trust is built. The UK now faces a once-in-a-generation reskilling challenge, as AI will increase the premium on judgement, adaptability, learning and trust. Capturing value requires reinvention across five dimensions: work, workforce, digital core, safety and security, and strategy.
