I am an Associate in the Employment, Immigration and Reward division at Lewis Silkin.

I advise and support HR and management teams, as well as individuals, in a commercial but down to earth and approachable way, putting the client’s interests and objectives at the forefront of my advice on contentious and non-contentious employment matters.

I act for a range of clients, including both household name businesses and local market clients, across a variety of sectors including retail, manufacturing and engineering, entertainment, and transport.

My key experience and responsibilities include:

  • Advising on day-to-day HR issues such as poor performance, disciplinary, grievance and redundancy processes.
  • Advising on, and managing, Employment Tribunal claims, most commonly defending claims from straightforward unfair dismissal claims to complex, high value, multi-day discrimination claims.
  • Advising on and conducting settlement discussions and negotiating, and drafting, settlement agreements.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and advising on HR policies and procedures, consultancy agreements and contracts of employment.
  • Assisting with independent workplace investigations including grievances and bullying and harassment allegations (including #metoo issues).

Recent examples of how I have supported clients include:

  • Achieving a commercial settlement in a high value, reputationally significant unfair dismissal and sex discrimination Employment Tribunal claim brought by a former member of a client’s Senior Leadership Team.
  • Supporting the planning, administration, and management of a largescale redundancy settlement project on behalf of one of the UK’s largest airlines involving the co-ordination of legal advice to approximately 5,000 employees over a three-month period.
  • Achieving multiple early resolutions of Employment Tribunal claims for a well-known retail client by obtaining withdrawals and successfully negotiating low value commercial settlements.
  • Advising on the preparation, and implementation, of a business restructure and redundancy exercise for a local market client including the production of a bespoke documents pack and providing guidance throughout the process.
