I am an experienced commercial technology lawyer based in Lewis Silkin’s Belfast office.
I have worked in private practice, in-house for a FTSE500 IT company and as a senior lecturer at Queen’s University, Belfast. I specialise in technology law, data protection and security and commercial contracts with a strong focus on transactional and advisory work in the ICT sector. I have advised a wide range of clients including ICT suppliers and customers, software developers, managed service providers, data and financial intelligence providers, creative industries, IT consultants and SaaS providers. Drafting and negotiating a wide range of License Agreements (particularly software and IP licensing agreements) and advising on data protection in the context of technology related contracts forms a large part of my work.
I regularly advise on a wide range of technology related matters including: Software and App Development Agreements, Licensing Agreements, Reseller Agreements, Hosting, Maintenance and Support Agreements and Service Level Agreements, Escrow Arrangements, Master Services Agreements, Collaboration Agreements, Data Processing Agreements and PaaS and SaaS Agreements.
I also have a strong interest in data privacy and regularly advise on a wide spectrum of data privacy related issues in the context of technology transactions, ranging from advice on GDPR compliance, international data transfers and drafting and negotiating the terms of data processing/sharing agreements.
