I joined Lewis Silkin in July 2014 as an Associate and following a promotion I became a Senior Associate in April 2018. Before joining the firm I gained over of ten years of immigration experience in leading law firms.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in United States and Latin American Studies awarded by King’s College, London, in 2001.
I qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2014 after completing the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice and Legal Practice Course.
I am a member of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association. I contribute to Home Office projects and liaise regularly with industry representative bodies to inform their discussions with government on immigration policy development. Speaking engagements include “Establishing a business presence in the UK”, at the British Embassy in Dubai in December 2016 and “Global Panel: Visitors to Europe – What you Can and Can’t Do in Schengen and in the UK” for the AILA Rome District Chapter Fall 2017 conference. I have contributed to British Vogue and written articles for the International Bar Association and Lexis Nexis.
Immigration and global mobility
I advise across the full range of UK immigration, nationality and EU law-based residence applications. I have in-depth experience of sponsorship applications with a strong focus on immigration compliance. I ensure that clients are no longer in breach of illegal working legislation or sponsorship licence obligations whilst at the same time protecting them from reputational damage. I have designed a number of training sessions and client-tailored audit materials. Additionally, I have developed a Middle Eastern practice dealing with businesses and families establishing themselves in the UK or increasing their operations here, particularly via the Tier 1 Entrepreneur or Representative of Overseas Business routes.
Advertising and marketing
I work with advertising and PR agencies and regularly advise on their immigration issues and talent transfer, including advising on hiring key personnel, freelancers and creatives into the UK for advertising campaigns, location shoots and other time-bound projects.
