I am a venture capital, private equity and M&A partner based in the Manchester office. As a northerner myself I am delighted to be able to help bring the tier 1 Lewis Silkin corporate team to the northern market, across the Manchester and Leeds offices.

I act for venture capital investors, private equity houses and management teams on growth capital and buyout transactions. I have extensive experience of acting on new investments, follow on investments and exits for Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs) in particular. My M&A practice dovetails with the private equity work working with private equity backed platforms on buy and builds through to exits to trade or secondary MBOs.

Experience

Venture Capital

  • Advising venture capital trusts (VCTs) on new investments (Series A and beyond) into scalable, highly disruptive businesses which often include a technology platform or key proprietary technology or healthcare proposition
  • Acting for companies on a high growth trajectory secure venture capital funding from VCT/EIS investors, corporate venture arms and family offices
  • Working on follow on rounds through to exit by way of trade sale or private equity transactions

Private Equity

  • Acting for founders and management teams on private equity transactions, including the sale and rollover/equity elements
  • Working with the Lewis Silkin tax team on private equity transactions who provide wrap around tax advice for managers and founders
  • Advising private equity houses on buyout deals (both primary and secondary transactions), with the Lewis Silkin banking team providing support on leveraged deals
  • Post investment, securing growth for portfolio companies through buy and build strategies

Mergers & Acquisitions

  • Advising corporates on buy side acquisitions including both private company M&A and small cap listed purchasers from the UK, Europe and beyond on UK transactions
  • Working with shareholders on sell side mandates often including a carve out element or cross border complexity
  • Acting for corporates on the sale/divestment of non core assets by share or asset disposals
