I advise on employment tax and global mobility matters.

From individuals to large multinationals, I assist clients from all sectors on tax planning and compliance. This includes remuneration and incentive arrangements for directors and employees, benefits in kind, engagements with umbrella companies, agencies and contractors, settlement agreements, and a range of other "reward" related matters.

Outside of work I enjoy running and cycling, usually in the wake of my daughter.

Experience

Employment tax

  • Reviewing company policies and putting in place tax efficient remuneration and benefit plans.
  • Advising on the taxation of directors and employees.
  • Employment status reviews and implementing engagements with contractors and agencies to ensure compliance with the "off-payroll worker", "umbrella company" and agency worker rules.
  • Advising on the tax aspects of settlement agreements.
  • Engaging with HMRC on behalf of clients in relation to tax enquiries and early stage disputes.

Global mobility

  • Working with clients to navigate double tax treaties to mitigate double taxation, both from a company perspective (e.g., in relation to managing permanent establishment risk) and individuals (e.g., tax credit claims in relation to employment income).
  • Advising on the application of cross-border social security agreements.
  • Advising on personal tax residence under the UK statutory residence test, and the implications of becoming non-resident.
  • Reviewing remuneration plans and structuring arrangements to be compliant and tax efficient in the context of cross-border tax rules and treaties.
