Lewis Silkin has advised the shareholders of SCM World, the supply chain talent development partner, on securing investment from Octopus Investments.

SCM World has headquarters in London and an office in Boston and combines practitioner content, primary research and peer networking into unique learning programmes for supply chain professionals at the world’s leading companies. SCM World has differentiated its offering from other programmes through the creation of collaborative learning environment, rather than the traditional instructional training format.

The debt and equity investment from Octopus is being used to support the exit of one of the founders of SCM World and provides Octopus with a minority stake in the business. Following the investment Oliver Sloane remains as CEO and Ian Potter of Octopus has joined the board.

For the transaction, the Lewis Silkin team was led by corporate partners Simon Entwistle and Karish Andrews with support from corporate tax partner Matthew Rowbotham and corporate associate Sadiq Tajbhai.

Simon Entwistle says:

“We’re very pleased to have supported Oliver Sloane and his colleagues at SCM World on this exciting transaction which facilitates their continued growth and continued recognition as the market-leader in their field”.

Oliver Sloane says:

“The Lewis Silkin team played a key role in managing legal and commercial issues that arose during the course of this transaction”.
