Most biometric residence permits (BRPs) and EUSS biometric residence cards (EUSS BRCs) are expiring on 31 December 2024. If you previously did a physical right to work check relying on one of these documents, you will need to do a repeat (online) right to work check by this date.

 

BRP holders need to set up an eVisa account to be able to prove their status after their physical document expires. Other documents including visa stickers and passport stamps are due to be phased out in early to mid-2025.

Expired BRCs and BRPs will should be accepted for entering the UK until at least 31 March 2025, if the holder still has valid immigration permission. However, in practice, not having an eVisa in place has the potential to impact affected individuals’ ability to smoothly re-enter the UK after travelling abroad, which could in turn impact their ability to return to work.
