With the introduction of new powers under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act, the Competition and Markets Authority now has the power to impose penalties directly, without having to go to court, with fines of up to 10% of global turnover. The CMA's new Enforcement Guidelines also state that an upheld Advertising Standards Authority complaint will be one of the possible triggers for their enforcement action, so it is even more important than ever to successfully defend an ASA investigation.
The webinar will be delivered by me, Brinsley Dresden, and will cover the following topics:
- What do the CMA's new Enforcement Guidelines say, and what are the consequences of an upheld complaint in the post-DMCC Act world?
- Where are complaints coming from, and what are the 'hot button' issues?
- How can you maximise your prospects of achieving a successful outcome to an investigation?
- If the complaint is upheld, what can you do to reduce the risk of follow-up action by the CMA, while remaining competitive?
This event is one of the four webinars that we deliver every year, exclusively for ISBA members, so while attendance is free, it is only open to ISBA members.
The webinar will take place on 19th June 2025, from 1030 to 1130. To register, you have to go through ISBA via this link. Please note that bookings for this event cannot be made through Lewis Silkin.
