This UK government response to the House of Commons BEIS Select Committee’s report on Automation and the Future of Work emphasises the government’s commitment to ensuring that everyone can enjoy the rewards that automation will bring and that the labour market continues to work for all. It highlights that automation has always been key to productivity growth – for example car production lines – and is therefore essential to preserving jobs over the longer term. More broadly, the technologies enabling automation – such as smart robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things are helping the UK meet its ambition for Net Zero and solve the significant challenges facing UK society.
