The sixth AI Index report from the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence tracks, collates, distils, and visualises data relating to artificial intelligence (AI) to enable decision-makers to take meaningful action to advance AI responsibly and ethically with humans in mind. Key takeaways include the demand for AI-related professional skills is increasing across virtually every sector in the United States for which there is data (with the exception of agriculture, forestry, fishery and hunting). The research also notes that AI systems can have serious environmental impacts but new reinforcement learning models show that AI systems can also be used to optimise energy usage.
