Gallup’s latest report estimates that low employee engagement costs the global economy US$8.9 trillion, or 9% of global GDP and examines what leaders can do to improve the health and productivity of the world’s workforce. The research highlights the crucial role of managers in promoting worker wellbeing and boosting organisational performance, finding that managers account for 70% of the variance in team employee engagement. When organisations increase the number of engaged employees, they improve a host of organisation outcomes, including profit, retention rates and customer service.
