Gallup’s latest report features findings from the world’s largest ongoing study of employee experience and examines the recent decline in worker engagement and wellbeing. The research reveals that global employee engagement fell by two percentage points in 2024, costing the world economy an estimated $438 billion in lost productivity. The primary cause was a drop in manager engagement, with managers increasingly feeling the squeeze of new executive demands and employee expectations. The report offers three actions for leaders to address manager breakdown, improve employee wellbeing and unlock trillions in economic potential.
