The CIPD’s latest Labour Market Outlook report finds that 17% of employers report the use of AI will reduce staff numbers within their organisation over the next 12 months, with a quarter expecting the reduction to be greater than 10%. Clerical, junior managerial, professional and administrator roles were found to be the roles at greatest risk of reduction. As we transition to a more AI-driven economy, the report recommends that employers look to the type of jobs and skills they have in their workforces to help understand areas where AI is likely to lead to job displacement and consider training and redeployment opportunities for affected staff.
