This report from the Energy & Climate Intelligence Unit reveals that the UK's net zero economy has become a structurally embedded component of the national industrial base, generating over £105 billion in Gross Value Added and supporting 1.1 million jobs across the economy.
It examines how net zero-related activity is reshaping patterns of investment and job creation, finding that the sector is delivering productivity 48% above the UK average and an 11% wage premium. Underpinned by 23,500 predominantly SME-led businesses and a £455 billion energy infrastructure pipeline, the transition is driving demand across supply chains, supporting high-productivity jobs, and creating opportunities in communities across every part of the country. The report underscores that realising these benefits depends on sustained delivery, effective policy frameworks and the continued alignment of public and private investment.
