I am an Associate in the Employment team at Lewis Silkin. I am based in the Belfast office and joined the firm after having lived and worked in the Midlands for a number of years.

I advise and support businesses and individuals in a commercial but down to earth and approachable way, putting the client's interests and objectives at the forefront of my advice on contentious and non-contentious employment matters.

I act for a range of clients, including both household name businesses and local market clients, across a variety of sectors including retail, technology, manufacturing and engineering.

I am passionate about developing the next generation of lawyers and regularly provide mentoring, career coaching and mock interview sessions for local college and university students.

Employment

  • Advising HR and management teams on day-to-day people issues such as poor performance, disciplinary, grievance, and redundancy and restructure processes
  • Drafting and reviewing employee handbooks, employment contracts, director service agreements and consultancy agreements
  • Advising on and conducting settlement discussions including senior exits, and negotiating, and drafting, settlement agreements
  • Assisting workplace investigations - I have experience in supporting with investigations into workplace issues such as misconduct, discrimination, and harassment
  • Providing employment law and HR update and training sessions to businesses on new laws and developing or trending issues, with a particular focus on DE&I topics and preventing sexual harassment in the workplace

Employment tribunals

  • Acting for respondent employers in the Employment Tribunal, most commonly defending claims of unfair dismissal and discrimination
