On 19 June 2026, a new data subject right is activated to individuals in UK data protection law - the right to complain.  In turn, organisations who are data controllers (employers and more) are required to have a complaints handling process and to deal with these complaints effectively.

We expect that this will be weaponised against employers in the way that data subject access requests (DSARs) continue to be.

In this webinar, we will share our insights and practical takeaways for your organisation on:

  • The right to complain and its policy context, with resulting impact on you
  • How DSARs, the new right to complain, employment grievances and Tribunal claims will interact
  • Our top tips for managing grievances and DSAR searches in the context of the right to complain and subsequent Employment Tribunal claims
  • Your organisational controls for data subject complaints
  • The very key differences between the scope of a DSAR and the requirement to disclose documents in an Employment Tribunal claim
