About

I am part of the Employment team based in Cardiff. I work on a variety of advisory and contentious matters for employers. This typically includes advice on employment contracts and staff policies, performance management, grievance and disciplinary processes, termination of employment, individual and collective redundancies, as well as Employment Tribunal litigation. I also advise individuals on settlement agreements, grievances and claims, and other various employment matters.

I have been seconded for over a year to the EMEA Employee Relations team of an Australian global financial services group, which has given me some valuable insight into challenges and opportunities faced by in-house counsel in the financial services sector. I have also undertaken a one-year part-time secondment as Employment Counsel for a British-American global professional services firm, further broadening my understanding of the practical demands placed on in-house legal teams.

Experience

International employment law

  • Advising clients across jurisdictions as a member of our International Group. I regularly work on multi-jurisdictional projects for companies with a global presence
  • Managing large-scale international projects on topics such as remote and flexible working arrangements, international contract reviews, post-termination restrictive covenants, internal investigations, and implementation of the EU Whistleblowing Directive
  • Managing international helpdesks for clients with global footprint

Employment Tribunal litigation

  • Acting for employers in Employment Tribunal proceedings, including claims of unfair dismissal and complex discrimination cases
  • Advising on merits and case strategy, and managing claims through different stages of proceedings, including preparation of witness statements and disclosure
  • Assisting employers with early conciliation through ACAS and negotiating settlements to resolve Tribunal claims

Spanish Desk

  • Working with a broad range of clients in Spanish-speaking countries and providing advice in English and Spanish as a native Spanish speaker, as a member of our Spanish Desk
  • Advising on day-to-day HR queries and litigation matters for clients for a variety of Spanish and Latin American clients
  • Advising on termination and settlement agreements for UK-based employees
