We are pleased to announce that we have advised the senior management team at JKR, the award-winning global branding business, on its new investment from Breakwater Management, an LA-based private equity firm.

Under the terms of the transaction, Breakwater will succeed GCP as JKR's private equity partner.

The investment will accelerate JKR's vision to build the branding business of the future, while preserving the independence that has defined the company since it was founded in 1990. JKR specialises in brand consultancy, brand identity and brand experience, partnering with some of the world's largest brands — including Coca-Cola, KFC, Walmart, Stella Artois, Heinz, M&M'S, Ford and many more – to deliver brand distinctiveness, everywhere.

James Nixon, Global CEO of JKR, commented: "For the last three and a half decades, we've helped our clients build distinctive brands, deliver business impact, and connect with culture. This next era for JKR is about accelerating that mission at scale. Breakwater are the private equity partners who understand what that takes — backing our freedom of independence, so we can put more creative firepower behind the growth our clients need."

The Lewis Silkin team was led by Corporate Partner, Karish Andrews, with support from Matt Rowbotham (Head of Tax), Barnaby Stokes (Legal Director, Corporate), James Bowen (Senior Associate, Corporate) and Gabriella Jack (Associate, Corporate).

Karish commented on the deal: “We are delighted to have supported long-standing client JKR and its senior leadership team on this landmark transaction. JKR is a business with a remarkable track record of building distinctive brands for some of the world's largest companies. We look forward to seeing the business continue to thrive under its new partnership with Breakwater."
