I am a commercial real estate Consultant with over 20 years of experience in all aspects of commercial real estate, with a particular expertise in advising on major development and regeneration projects.

My focus is on delivering the outcomes required by my clients within a robust legal framework. I have a proud track record of achieving this across a broad spectrum of projects, and for a variety of clients, including developers, financial institutions, listed property companies, development corporations and local authorities.

Real Estate Development

I enjoy the challenge of guiding clients through the matrix of issues involved in any project, of whatever size, and working closely with fellow professionals to draw the different strands of a development project together. I am also experienced in advising on development funding, both through institutional investors and by way of public sector grants, as well as the delivery of development projects through a variety of joint venture structures.

We have an excellent team of real estate lawyers at Lewis Silkin, with specialist expertise in the key areas of real estate, construction, environmental, planning and tax structuring, who are able to structure the procurement and delivery of a development project in the most effective and efficient way to achieve the client’s desired outcomes.

Sport

My experience in the sports sector has largely been gained through advising the London Development Agency and (more recently) the London Legacy Development Corporation on the development of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for the staging of the 2012 Olympic Games, and its ongoing regeneration and use for legacy purposes. In particular, I have advised on leasing arrangements for the London Stadium, the arrangements put in place with the owner and operator of the Lee Valley Velopark (both during the 2012 Games and subsequently), the licence arrangements for the use of Greenwich Park for the equestrian events, and the funding arrangements for the Aquatics Centre.

I have a passion for involvement in local sport, and have advised a number of local cricket and rugby clubs on various issues, including development and funding, and have recently completely rewritten the constitution of my local cricket club to update it and make it fit for purpose.

Retail, Hospitality and Leisure

I play an active part in Lewis Silkins’ retail, hospitality and leisure sector focus group, and have worked on many projects in this sector. I have acted for 2 of the UK’s largest hotel groups on both the development and acquisition of hotels, and have also advised institutional investor clients on major shopping centre developments. I have managed teams advising on the ongoing asset management of one of the UK’s largest retail centres, and also on the management of a client’s portfolio of industrial estates largely occupied by retail tenants.
