After completing my Law masters and a year working in development and planning PR, I have gained a robust knowledge of the English planning system. As a Planning Paralegal I will support the project team through all stages of the planning application cycle from fruition through to committee decision appeals.

Planning law is undergoing evolution. It is becoming an ever more important part of public life as governments tackle issues such as the climate crisis, the housing crisis and the decline of the high street. Effective and considered planning will help combat these issues whether that’s through the creation of sustainable, carbon neutral buildings or making better use of underutilised land in built up areas. Planning can also create bigger, better societies and build a greater sense of community cohesion within settlements that may have been neglected in the past.

England in particular is in the midst of a housing crisis – planning is the key that can unblock the backstop and ensure sustainable homes are built in suitable locations that will last for generations to come.

As a paralegal I will be supporting the partners with a range of matters form planning application advice, appeal and enforcement guidance.

I am looking forward to joining the Social Mobility division of Lewis Silkin’s Diversity and Inclusion team. Within this division I will be working alongside my colleagues to ensure that our suppliers are taking actions regarding social mobility.
