Artwork at Arbor: Making My Own Map (for Nathalie) by Barby Asante

Barby is a Peckham-based artist whose work is concerned with the politics of place, space-memory and the histories and legacies of colonialism.

Her artistic practice explores the archival, makes propositions, collections and maps of stories and contributions of people of colour using storytelling, collective actions, and ritual, to excavate, unearth and interrogate given narratives.

Integrity is an important aspect of Barby's work as she's involved with many communities and groups of people, offering mentoring and support to future generations of female artists, writers and researchers.

She's building a more sustainable future for these creatives through education. To learn more about the artist please visit: https://www.barbyasante.com/
