Employment issues in Media
We advise many clients in the media and entertainment sector on their employment, immigration and reward needs – both domestically and internationally.
Alongside day-to-day advice and support, we have significant experience advising on attracting, rewarding and incentivising high performers and senior executives. We also help businesses to exit underperformers and manage large scale restructuring exercises.
We recognise that this sector is specifically impacted by certain people issues, for example:
- employment status and the use of "freelancers" as a flexible resource diversity
- the operation of businesses (including talent agents) as employment agencies and/or employment businesses
- gender pay and diversity at work
- managing mental health issues at work (and particularly the impact of stress related illness)
- navigating the hurdles of bringing staff into the UK and facilitating the movement of employees globally
There is often a need for cross-border advice in this sector. As a result we have pioneered a number of global employment projects for many multinationals, and have run many cross border projects for a wide variety of clients. These projects have included the establishment and operation of an international music television company’s global employment helpdesk which, for a fixed monthly fee, provides them with employment advice in all of its 32 jurisdictions it operates in around the world.
We have a huge amount of experience in defending (and settling) Employment Tribunal claims and managing Data Subject Access Requests (as well as all other workplace data protection issues).
